We’ve been able to provide much needed information on the six carnivore species found in northeastern Madagascar. Oh, and word to the wise: Madagascar’s native carnivores aren’t cats or foxes, despite the visual similarities.
Madagascar is well-known for its lemurs, which can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Our research will be the first of its kind for lemurs in northeastern Madagascar.
How can you compete with lemurs and carnivores? You can’t. That’s why Madagascar’s birds have been largely ignored. We will provide the first in-depth and long-term study on birds in northeastern Madagascar.
Look like hedgehogs, rabbits, shrews and gerbils just for kicks. Madagascar’s native small mammals are not closely related to any of those species. We will provide the first in-depth and long-term study on small mammals in northeastern Madagascar.
Exotic species are brought to new areas by humans and usually cause trouble for native species. Dogs and cats in northeastern Madagascar’s forests could be detrimental for native species. Ours is the first study to examine this in northeastern Madagascar.
